The Data Migration Lead is responsible for leading the bank's data migration workstream for the Deposits Modernization Program, serving as the primary counterpart to the vendor's Data Migration Manager. The role oversees governance, validation, and sign-off of all migration activities to ensure data accuracy, completeness, regulatory compliance, and minimal business disruption. This position drives migration strategy, cutover planning, reconciliation, vendor management, and stakeholder coordination throughout the modernization program.
Responsibilities
- Define the overall data migration strategy, scope, approach, and acceptance criteria aligned with program releases and cutover milestones.
- Develop and manage the end-to-end migration plan, including environments, mock migrations, dress rehearsals, and production cutover.
- Govern vendor delivery by reviewing migration designs, ETL processes, mapping documents, transformation rules, reconciliation logic, and runbooks.
- Coordinate with business and IT stakeholders to validate source-to-target mappings, business rules, and reference data.
- Establish and execute migration verification controls, including record counts, reconciliation, balance validations, exception management, and stakeholder sign-offs.
- Lead migration defect management by prioritizing issues, driving root cause analysis, monitoring resolutions, and escalating risks.
- Ensure readiness of migration data for SIT, UAT, and parallel testing, including refreshes and data masking where required.
- Plan and coordinate cutover activities, reconciliation checkpoints, rollback procedures, and readiness assessments to minimize operational impact.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, audit, and regulatory requirements throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Provide regular progress updates, risk reporting, RAID management, and status reporting to program leadership and senior stakeholders.
