A senior data migration professional responsible for leading large-scale migration initiatives within banking environments. The role focuses on defining migration strategy, overseeing vendor delivery, ensuring data integrity, and coordinating across business, IT, and external stakeholders for successful system transitions (especially legacy-to-modern core banking platforms).
Responsibilities:
- Define migration strategy, scope, approach (phasing/co-existence), and acceptance criteria aligned with program timelines and cutover milestones
- Develop and manage the end-to-end data migration plan, including mock runs, dress rehearsals, and final cutover activities
- Govern vendor delivery by reviewing migration design, runbooks, ETL processes, mapping specs, transformation rules, and reconciliation logic
- Coordinate with business and IT SMEs to validate source-to-target mappings and business rules (e.g., balances, fees, account status)
- Execute data validation and verification controls (record counts, control totals, reconciliations) and secure stakeholder sign-offs
- Lead defect triage, ensuring proper logging, prioritization, root cause analysis (RCA), and resolution of issues
- Ensure test data readiness for SIT/UAT and support parallel run activities, including data refreshes and masking
- Plan and execute cutover data activities, including sequencing, reconciliation checkpoints, and rollback strategies
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., access control, audit trails, data masking)
- Provide regular status updates, maintain RAID logs, and communicate risks, issues, and progress to stakeholders
