PART I: SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Data Integration Specialist plays a critical role in connecting and sustaining the district’s information systems to ensure accurate, consistent, and secure data flow across instructional and operational platforms. This position coordinates the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of data integrations among student, human resources, financial, and third-party systems to support reliable system functionality and reporting readiness. The Data Integration Specialist provides technical expertise in data structures, automation, and system interoperability, supporting day-to-day operations while contributing to long-range data architecture planning. In addition, the specialist collaborates with technology, instructional, and business teams to support district initiatives, improve data accessibility, and strengthen data quality practices, ensuring organizational effectiveness through stable, well-managed, and scalable integration solutions.

PART II: MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. College training (15 hours+)in computer science, information systems, business or closely related field.  Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred or;
  2. Three (3) years of experience in data collecting, organizing, analyzing and reporting from a variety of information system sources.

B. CREDENTIALS:

  1. Current in all aspects of data management and data privacy practices.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Considerable knowledge of database structures and query tools including SQL and reporting platforms.
  2. Knowledge of student information systems and enterprise education databases (e.g., Infinite Campus).
  3. Knowledge of state and federal education data collection and reporting requirements.
  4. Knowledge of student data privacy laws and best practices, including SOPPA compliance.
  5. Knowledge of system integration concepts, data exchange methods, and interoperability standards.
  6. Knowledge of business applications and web-based software used in instructional and operational environments.
  7. Skill in data validation, quality control, and maintaining accurate records.
  8. Skill in analyzing data issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective solutions.
  9. Ability to configure, support, and troubleshoot data interfaces between multiple systems.
  10. Ability to document technical procedures and maintain clear integration documentation.
  11. Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  12. Ability to provide guidance and training related to data processes and system use.
  13. Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  14. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  15. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain positive professional relationships.

  1. Design, implement, monitor, and maintain automated data integrations between district information systems and third-party applications.
  2. Develop and execute data imports, exports, and scheduled transfers for student, staff, assessment, and operational data.
  3. Perform complex database queries and controlled mass updates to support troubleshooting, correction, and operational needs.
  4. Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve integration failures, data discrepancies, and synchronization issues.
  5. Document technical specifications including data mappings, workflows, and integration architecture.
  6. Serve as primary technical liaison for internal departments and external vendors regarding data integrations.
  7. Conduct discovery sessions to determine integration requirements, data dependencies, and implementation scope.
  8. Coordinate implementation, testing, and validation of integrations to ensure accuracy and reliability of data flow.
  9. Monitor integration performance and generate status, error, and performance reports as needed.
  10. Process scheduled uploads and submissions to external systems in accordance with reporting timelines.
  11. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge base, procedural documentation, and user support resources.
  12. Ensure compliance with student data privacy laws and agreements, including management of SOPPA-related requirements.
  13. Support data integrity by validating, reconciling, and auditing transferred data across systems.
  14. Collaborate with data, instructional, and operational teams to support reporting and system functionality.
  15. Recommend improvements to integration processes, automation, and system efficiency.
  16. Provide technical support and training related to data processes and integrated systems.
  17. Maintain expertise in district data structures, workflows, and business processes.
  18. Participate in technology projects involving new systems, upgrades, or system replacements.
  19. Maintain security and access practices for integrated applications and data exchanges.
  20. Stay current with integration standards, data practices, and emerging technologies to support long-term system sustainability.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.
