Job Description β Data Transformation Engineer (Primary Skill: Mainframe Development) Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Transformation Engineer with strong expertise in Mainframe Development, ETL processing, and enterprise data integration. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in designing scalable ETL pipelines, translating complex business rules into technical solutions, and working across the full software development lifecycle.
The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build reliable, high-performance data transformation and reporting solutions within enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/data transformation pipelines for enterprise data warehouses and MIS/reporting systems.
- Translate business requirements and transformation rules into optimized ETL workflows and batch processes.
- Develop and support Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and related technologies.
- Build and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data extraction routines.
- Develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts and scheduling jobs using tools like Control-M.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, debugging, and troubleshooting of ETL workflows and batch jobs.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, QA teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure data accuracy and system reliability.
- Participate in the complete SDLC including:
- Requirement analysis
- Design
- Development
- Unit testing
- Deployment
- Documentation
- Production support
- Support CI/CD and DevOps practices for deployment automation and release management.
- Prepare technical documentation, process flows, and operational support documents.
